Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association's Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam (CMAA), the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist exam (CBCS) and the Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist exam (CEHRS) as well as the American Academy of Professional Coders Certification Exam (CPC). Exam costs are included in tuition.

About Medical Billing and Coding
Medical billers undertake the billing function for physician's office, hospitals, outpatient clinics, home health facilities and other medical facilities. They bill for health care services, medications, equipment, supplies and consultations. Medical coders abstract critical information from a patient records and combine it with personal expertise of reimbursement and coding guidelines to maximize physician payment. These functions are frequently combined in a single role for a medical billing and coding specialist.

Hi there my name is Dusty Miller. And this is my success story about Performance Training Institute (PTI). I would like to share a little about myself to start off.
I am a stay at home mother of 2 boys. I am married to a wonderful man of 9 years! He has supported me in going back to school to make a career for myself that will be life changing. My husband and I also have our own company. When I was in elementary school and all through high school I was in special education. I did not really see myself as college material. So during high school I was able to obtain my Certified Nurses Aid back in 1994. I then started having some medical issues with my back and was no longer able to perform the duties that were asked of me. I then took an entire day and just sat and thought about my life and how I could make it better. I then decided that college was a big option for me. I then looked around at many different colleges. I decided to go to PTI!
PTI has been a perfect fit for me and my family. It was also nice to be able to find one of my close friends and talk her into going back to school also. So when she decided to go back also since she was a CNA we joined up and did the buddy system and studied together at PTI! It was so nice to have someone else that lean on when you did not understand some of your work and be able to work on it together. Granted with two children that are ADHD, ODD, and have excessive impulse control that made it really challenging at times for me. There were many nights that I would sit up all night to have my assignments in on time. The staff at PTI is awesome people. I know when I had two surgeries during the time of going to school they really cared about my well-being and wanted me to take a leave of absence. I could not do that because I was so determined to graduate in September. There were many days that I would ask myself what I was doing and the answer would always be to SUCCEED! And that I did do.
I have now completed the courses that they had offered and I am now a Graduate with Honors from PTI. If you put your mind to it and keep a positive outlook you will succeed. I just wanted to share my personal story with you so that I may be able to inspire someone that life is about the choices you make. And if you can just sit back and think about what is important in your life right now and want to make that change choose PTI because they are on your side!!!
